      Surfcaster's 2016 Reboot!   09/21/2016

Howdy, folks. I know this is way overdue, and the damage is probably already done, but after weeks of working with the database I've finally wiped out all of the spam posts and topics. This was no easy task, considering there were three-quarters of a million bogus posts and nearly three hundred thousand bogus topics. Once a hacker/spammer network finds a vulnerability, they send out automated programs that basically destroy a database like this. Over the past couple weeks I've migrated all of the good data into a more current, secure platform with the hopes that we can somehow rebuild. New member registration is tightened way up, and a third-party spam monitoring service is in place. I've also invested in an awesome new gallery extension,  allowing members to create, manage, and share image galleries. Please give it a try, and let me know if there are any issues. I'm still testing and working out the bugs. Surfcaster's forums were once an amazing resource for everyone to enjoy, and we're hoping it can once again build back up. The main site (non-forums) is pretty banged up, but once the forums are complete my next task is to re-invent that as well. Spread the word. Hope to see a lot of you back! Cheers, Andrew

  1. Hi, Do I have to register an inflatable boat in MA, if it has an electric motor? Thank you
  2. pic
  3. No archers, thank god. I always catch and release the Carp and most other fish I catch. Imagine Striperd bass bow hunters... ;) that wouldn't be nice, would it?
  4. Caught on flavored corn (tutti-frutti flavor).
  5. Sunday I was fishing all day long local waters. All day nothing, nada, zip. And then... the reward came at 8:30pm, a beautiful torpedo-shaped Carp! 25lb, 8oz even! I couldn't beleive it, what a surprice at the end of the day! ;)
  6. Once unfrozen, try Jamaica Pond. Also Lake Cochihuate (sp?) in Framingham. They are very good trout waters. Mike, I think the higher the water lever, the better for fishing. If one just wants to catch a fish, the Charles is the place at the moment. The best time for Pike shoud be just now... I am having a great time catching Carp in the Charles, but I'll save you the detalis :P because I know how much you guys like Carp fishing
  7. All ponds in Chatam are ice free. A friend of mine caught many rainbows and brown trout last weekend. The ponds there are stocked... I would give Wachusset a week or two before going there. Around Boston the ponds are still completely covered with ice.
  8. Make me an offer....
  9. The Charles river is great for late winter/early spring fishing. Yesterday I was fishing the Charles for Carp and caught 2 fish in 1.5 hour session. It was windy, a bit cold, but great! ;)
  10. I have almost new Shimano Baitrunner 3500B for sale if you are interested...
  11. reel is still available.
  12. Actually the unofficial record is (I think) 54lb grass carp caught by a guy that I know. The reason it is not official is that all carp caught by this guy are released, not taken to a tackle store.
