      Surfcaster's 2016 Reboot!   09/21/2016

Howdy, folks. I know this is way overdue, and the damage is probably already done, but after weeks of working with the database I've finally wiped out all of the spam posts and topics. This was no easy task, considering there were three-quarters of a million bogus posts and nearly three hundred thousand bogus topics. Once a hacker/spammer network finds a vulnerability, they send out automated programs that basically destroy a database like this. Over the past couple weeks I've migrated all of the good data into a more current, secure platform with the hopes that we can somehow rebuild. New member registration is tightened way up, and a third-party spam monitoring service is in place. I've also invested in an awesome new gallery extension,  allowing members to create, manage, and share image galleries. Please give it a try, and let me know if there are any issues. I'm still testing and working out the bugs. Surfcaster's forums were once an amazing resource for everyone to enjoy, and we're hoping it can once again build back up. The main site (non-forums) is pretty banged up, but once the forums are complete my next task is to re-invent that as well. Spread the word. Hope to see a lot of you back! Cheers, Andrew

Fishing, cars, fishing, and more cars. basically going fishing and workin on cars. Oh yeah one more, ladies!
  1. Well havent been on this site for a long time since i moved from Ma down here to florida. Just came back on to see if any of the firmiliar faces are still on here and out there fishing the harbors and coasts for those whoppahs. Hopefully ill be able to get back into this and come here more often. Fishing in florida has been fun, lots of big 24"+ largies and peacocks. Catching jacks and yellowtail snappers down in the keys, caught a nurse shark as well, now that was a fight! well, hope to see you all around :fish:
  2. theres so many sites out there with those on it...its good tho
  3. haha thanks. Now i just finished battling frances and i hear ivans on his way too...althought right now we're still getting winds and rain its been a dark and gloomy labor day. I should be fishin...
  4. This was a pretty bad hurricane down here...i live in pembroke pines near hollywood and miramar. For the past 3 days we've had winds 60+ and heavy rains. We didnt get hit as hard as alot of places luckily but we did board up all are windows and everything as a precaution. Now i hear ivan could hit us just a lil south of where i am meaning ill be in the 1st quadrant of it which is heaviest part of the storm. I think ill leave the windows boarded up now its just another matter of waiting.
  5. I know i havent posted in a long time, became to busy and then found out i was moving to florida. Now im settled down here in Florida in a town called Pembroke Pines right near Davie and Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood, north of miami. I've done some fishing within the past month ive been here down in the glades. It was off a dock where airboats leave from so its a pretty busy area and a lot of surface noise but ive landed a 12" florida gar, at least a 15 lb snappin turtle (they like bacon) and some catfish. I also caught an alligator, theres one at night that'll watch us while fishing on the dock, not only is it creepy but he sits and waits for you to catch a fish and then will come up and grab it off your line. Well he caught one of my catfish like that and the line never snapped, so he was running my drag like crazy. He was at least a 9 ft gator with a mouthful of razors, he just couldnt break my 12 lb trilene. So i had to cut it, now hes probably got fishing line coming out his mouth and out his pooper at the same time. Hows the stripper fishing going on up there. Im about to take off tonight for some pier fishing on Dania Beach, 24 hour tackle and beer shop on the pier. Man, this is a great place to fish, but ive yet to see any lunkers! Ill keep you all posted, if you actually read this. haha, take it easy everyone! -Steve
  6. I know this is a carp topic but anyone know where the hell the cats are and if they're active yet? I've gone three times with beef blood and chicken liver and chicken blood dough balls and havent had any luck yet....3 times and nothing! damn fish. I've tried the charles on dedham ave in needham, cochituate, and a couple other random ponds and stuff. Am i just getting ahead of myself looking for these things or am i going to the wrong spots? Let me know some hot spots for them if you could, that'd be great. Anything thats kind of close to needham, dedham.
  7. nothing...caught nothing, no one along the whole jetty caught anything, talk about a crappy day
  8. Yeah ive had best luck with that during high tide with clams, never caught anything there with any other bait....hopefully today will be better
  9. Hey I was wondering if anyone fishes the plymouth jetty thats near the boat launch thats kind of near the rock...I was just wondering since i plan on fishing there on monday if anyone has had any luck or heard of anyone hitting luck with that spot. Any info could help, thanks.
  10. i think i might be the only sucka that has to work all weekend, so i need you guys to help me out and land one for me, or maybe not maybe your just greedy like that....oh the best part about workin all weekend is definitly the 13 hour shift from 7am till 8 pm on sunday, but ill be out there on monday, doing alot of fishing. ooooooh right, giggity giggity giggity
  11. I finally got a largie today....on buzzbait through lilly pads. I seen it on tv them catching bass on buzz bait but never been able to, today was my day. Im going back there in a lil while with some shiners hopefully catch some pickerals and bigger bass. Nice largemouth man 5-10
  12. you just need a regular fishing license right? or do you need something else?
  13. When do you expect em to be in the boston harbor? I live like 15 minutes from there so im waiting for the word.
  14. so basically if you catch a big huge fish youd have to take it to get weighed in way up there and by that time the fish will be dead. So even though all i do is catch and release id have to kill a huge fish above 36 inches? I mean im not against like killing them to eat it, i just dont like seafood but i love fishing.
  15. i was seriously thinking about starting doing this...only thing is it gets expensive, but i was wondering if also anyone knows any good starter kits for it? Any ideas or suggestions would help. If not surf rods a nice homemade freshwater rod would be nice, like they say with lure making or fly tying, Theres nothing like catching a fish on something you made
