      Surfcaster's 2016 Reboot!   09/21/2016

Howdy, folks. I know this is way overdue, and the damage is probably already done, but after weeks of working with the database I've finally wiped out all of the spam posts and topics. This was no easy task, considering there were three-quarters of a million bogus posts and nearly three hundred thousand bogus topics. Once a hacker/spammer network finds a vulnerability, they send out automated programs that basically destroy a database like this. Over the past couple weeks I've migrated all of the good data into a more current, secure platform with the hopes that we can somehow rebuild. New member registration is tightened way up, and a third-party spam monitoring service is in place. I've also invested in an awesome new gallery extension,  allowing members to create, manage, and share image galleries. Please give it a try, and let me know if there are any issues. I'm still testing and working out the bugs. Surfcaster's forums were once an amazing resource for everyone to enjoy, and we're hoping it can once again build back up. The main site (non-forums) is pretty banged up, but once the forums are complete my next task is to re-invent that as well. Spread the word. Hope to see a lot of you back! Cheers, Andrew

  1. Wow Zip That's a Big $$$ commitment. To big to trailer and the fuel bill is gona be killer. But the price is hard to resist. Good luck and smooth sailing.
  2. That was great. I looked up Tattoobob's # and it found my wife.
  3. Hopefully the storm washed all the Fn Plovers in to the sea. OOPS was that out loud.
  4. If I have to get a licence than yes, I would prefer a fed licence. It's a pain in the ###### going from one state to another and needing papers like it's east and west Germany.
  5. Can you picture trying to real in a nice seal and have that fish bite it in half. Bet it would really mess up a custom plug.
  6. the first time I saw the truck stocking Herds pond on the sudburry river I couldn't beleave what they were puttung in that water.
  7. Here's the article on the DMF web site. http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dmf/marinefishe...regs_031907.htm
  8. Best top water blues action I ever had was on a blue fish bomb that Tattoobob was kind enough to lone me at the race. It's just a yellow chunk of hard plastic with a single hook on the back. It casts a mile and you just real it in fast. If the blues are out there they'll fight over it. the orange one in the middle is my favorite
  9. I'll be there Saturday
  10. I thought the 31" 1 fish limit worked pretty good. Depending who you are a 44" fish could be a trophy. it's not a 50#er but lets face it, it's bigger than many anglers catch in a life time. Slot fishing has it's good points and it's bad but cutting the limit to 1 keeper will definitely make a difference. (and then I look at my pic showing me with a 35" and 41" neither of witch I would have been able to keep with in a slot.) I can't wait to see how thick the herring run will be in April. I think the moratorium on river herring will have a big impact on both bait and rec fishing.
  11. The rod holders must be a dealer option and I didn't see a trolling motor. Probably don't have to worry about were to put the anchor, it ain't gona float away.
  12. Always great to see SR's late winter encouragement. I think I'll re spool my schoolie rig for spring.
  13. oh hey happy Belated b-day I've been of line for a bit. can't believe I missed that.
  14. Thank you all  for the first time I feel my age. I'm gaining weight, loosing hair, wearing reading glasses, ext. At least I still have another fishing season to plan for.
  15. nice thing about air brush is you can mix your own colors. if you go that route try a sign supply store like charetts or NE sign supply in woburn. check out the color selection of the 1 shot sign paint. if you do a lot of paining it could save you money in the long run.
  16. Don't count on it. The criminals that take short fish and more than there limit know what there doing and probably won't care if they need a fishing licence to do it. The fines and penalties will still be the same and so will the enforcement. let's see... fishing licence : $30 , full tank of gas for the Yukon : $70 , Plus the proposed 10 cent gas tax : $3 , Nauset permit : $160 , worms, eels beer and snacks $45. Catching a 40# striper priceless. it's not gettin cheaper is it. As soon as My state rep. hears about a salt water licence in mass I'll let you guys know about it.
  17. I did get your reply, Check you PM.
  18. What an un-happy looking baby ....not. keep feeding her cute pills, there working great.
  19. Your doing a great job! I like the new board, and I see a few new goodies like spell checker  like I need that.
  20. those are just my first picks but if you can think of a better time let me know. I left out the summer time because of the crowds and the price. the other decision would be were to buy.
  21. If I could do that I'd never leave the house. :(
  22. SWEET! There's something I'd like to try. I still have the problem of were to work in my house. nice pattern.
  23. Bob were are you priorities!!! :( the bill will always be there, the striper are only here for about 6 or 7 months then there gone. :bluefish:
