      Surfcaster's 2016 Reboot!   09/21/2016

Howdy, folks. I know this is way overdue, and the damage is probably already done, but after weeks of working with the database I've finally wiped out all of the spam posts and topics. This was no easy task, considering there were three-quarters of a million bogus posts and nearly three hundred thousand bogus topics. Once a hacker/spammer network finds a vulnerability, they send out automated programs that basically destroy a database like this. Over the past couple weeks I've migrated all of the good data into a more current, secure platform with the hopes that we can somehow rebuild. New member registration is tightened way up, and a third-party spam monitoring service is in place. I've also invested in an awesome new gallery extension,  allowing members to create, manage, and share image galleries. Please give it a try, and let me know if there are any issues. I'm still testing and working out the bugs. Surfcaster's forums were once an amazing resource for everyone to enjoy, and we're hoping it can once again build back up. The main site (non-forums) is pretty banged up, but once the forums are complete my next task is to re-invent that as well. Spread the word. Hope to see a lot of you back! Cheers, Andrew

  1. that sounds promising!
  2. nice! what'd you get it on?
  3. great report! Was that you I talked to on the Firday 9/25? It was on the beach front. I was the guy that had just got married. Was there on my honeymoon/fishing trip.
  4. nice report! what was the time and tide? if you dont mind saying. bait or plugging? Thanks!
  5. Just returned from my fishing honeymoon.. As I told everyone I met. It is why I married her + a hundred other reasons! anyway- only got into one small school of stripers 1 hour before high tide in the middle of the day! I got up before day break and hit the beach most days went from new sand bar to end of jetty with poppers, metal and a few other things and nothin. Heard that Tuesday morning was the best it was all week with some good bluefish action. I am hoping people hit the beach and write up some reports. I left PI, feeling like I missed out on something. It was my first time getting a chance to fish in the fall and now I understand what its all about. its incredible to see fish busting the surface and slamming a popper. One of the coolest things I have experienced fishing. You guys are lucky you live so close to the ocean.
  6. went down to the south end and nothing happening down there as well.. A quiet week on PI.
  7. I have been on PI all week. Up at first light- down to the jetty after the turn of the tide and it has yielded very little. Met some cool people though. Some reports of solid blues action Tuesday, but not much since. I actually got into into one blitz on Wednesday, late afternoon right before high. landed 3 lost 1. all large schoolies. If I had the energy I would post the video. On Tuesday at the end of the refuge I caught 20 ghost fish. I would cast out and hook what I thought was a fish. When I reeled it felt like a fish, when I stopped reeling nothing would pull. As soon as I got to the last breaker it would drop. 20 times it did this. Anyone have a clue. I am guessing it was baby blues? no idea. I was throwing metal that came back with little bite mark. I have 2 more morning and am praying I hit one day of solid bluefish action.
  8. I am guessing she is being made a example of... What better way to make a point then with the most famous american fisherman there is
  9. guess you wouldn't be into this.. http://www.surfcasting.com/movie.html I sure as hell am not. Thanks drive-in JAWS at 4 years old
  10. Thanks! I guess this is the year I finally just buy some korkers.
  11. Anyone know what the condition of the jetty is? I was there 2 weeks ago and it looked like a lot of sand has been pushed in. Making high tides more dangerous than last year. Looks like you reallly have to pay attention or you can get stuck out there, more so than I remember. Thanks,
  12. Anyway you can get a picture?
  13. Nice, I am headed over for the one trip this year on the first week of June. Anyone see the Dirty Jobs with the blood worms? He had one that was 2 feet. Striper candy! Even I could have fish on that sucker
  14. How we looking at the PI Jetty? Is the jetty fishable, is it safe to go out there with the beach gone? Thanks!
  15. Anyone take any pictures yet?
