      Surfcaster's 2016 Reboot!   09/21/2016

Howdy, folks. I know this is way overdue, and the damage is probably already done, but after weeks of working with the database I've finally wiped out all of the spam posts and topics. This was no easy task, considering there were three-quarters of a million bogus posts and nearly three hundred thousand bogus topics. Once a hacker/spammer network finds a vulnerability, they send out automated programs that basically destroy a database like this. Over the past couple weeks I've migrated all of the good data into a more current, secure platform with the hopes that we can somehow rebuild. New member registration is tightened way up, and a third-party spam monitoring service is in place. I've also invested in an awesome new gallery extension,  allowing members to create, manage, and share image galleries. Please give it a try, and let me know if there are any issues. I'm still testing and working out the bugs. Surfcaster's forums were once an amazing resource for everyone to enjoy, and we're hoping it can once again build back up. The main site (non-forums) is pretty banged up, but once the forums are complete my next task is to re-invent that as well. Spread the word. Hope to see a lot of you back! Cheers, Andrew

  1. I am guilty of not enough time as well and havent heard much from the PI front. Have relatives in RI so i have been going there when i can. Dont go enough there as well. i think you are correct , put in the time m and son
  2. I seem to think the bait part doesnt do as well in the fall but i have been proven wrong. I will carry both this weekend...tightlines to all
  3. Wetsuits are great. I do triathlons so it started there, i am to wimpy for waders (being 5'5" doesnt help) my tall friends seem to get out further. The thought of being trapped in flooded waders wigs me out. The wetsuit must fit tight out of the water, once in- they loosen up and fit like skin so be careful when purchasing.. go to ebay and get an older one. There is no fear on the flats when the tide rolls in, just a semi swim back if you are late. They seem to stay warm as long as you stay wet in the water. another great thing you can wiz in them and never have to go to shore to drop your waders to take a leak. (when the fish are on there are priorities). upon leaving the water you take them off by turning them inside out, like peeling a bannana, then rinse them off with fresh water and hang them to dry in the shade. As far as minor holes and punctures, just super glue them shut. great piece of equipment, you can actually float on your back if you get into trouble. be warned ....you can apper to look like a seal, you know what that can lead to.................. tight lines see you on the surf at PI M and Son
  4. thanks rust seems to be an issue here. just checked that boot thanks tight lines M and Son

I got the corded strap type, they hold nice, i am concerened about replacing the spikes - any comments suggestions? thanks in advance..... see you on the surf (rocks) M ans Son

  8. so where do you find nice fresh chunk bait (pogie, macks and or herring) in the pi area? seems its always frozen, that stuf f is worth cr@p, falls apart in moments. kinda of a clam guy, but after using chunks in RI there's noithing like it....cows love it. thanks in advance......................... m and son
  9. I thought i would see you in the background reeling in the big one!!!!! maybe you should get into surfing while you are waiting on your fish....... M and son
  10. Check your mail. I'm sending you directions to a few spots in RI that I've been hitting and will continue to hit through the next few weeks. I didn't get any mail? Bob , My PC locked up I'm trying again I was there on friday all day and night casting and chunkin. narraganset beach was hot with blues and 20" stripers. I saw more birds than ever before from one end of the beach to the other.( the beach is close to a mile long)I was told a few biguns mixed in. I caught one blue and a striper on a graves there. no luck on chunk night fishing on aquidneck..it was very cold but fun. I saw 2 guys using a row boat to get further out on the rocks (brave), they were also outfitted with korkers. 2nd beach intermittent but caught a real nice blue there. Most of the time we were traveling sighting birds then we would stop. Pnt judith and breakers no action no birds, almost poped a tie rod end not looking where i was going. (happens while driving with binoc's). overall great time. may head out again this weekend. M and son
  11. yes i was there, my buddy actually snagged one with a huge topwater striper/bluefish lure. it was about 6 inches long, green and blue in color. There was a huge mass of them (4o yds wide by half mile long) that moved along the beachfront, most casting distance away. Didnt see the ususal bluefish chowing on them though, some stripers on the outskirts.
  12. I hear the last 2-3 days blue fish are coming in on the beachfront lots, does that mean stripers follow? Also hear maine waters are still somewhat warm for this time of year. go figure, .............I am not done yet, at least 3 weeks left - plum island to point judith
  13. where did the report come from? what area? thanks M and Son
  14. DID you have any luck? I filtered the water with leftover worms, pogie and clams for free taking for the fish, maybe it drew some in for the a.m. crowd. i had trouble with the worms, they were kinda small and just didnt stay on the hook. I like clams the best, i was hoping the fish would to.
  15. Lot 3 was dead on Saturday night but it was a good time anyway. Saw one monster swirl on the surface out of reach about sunset. stayed to 10 pm. threw all kinds of bait but nothing. (hey i wasnt at work  ) Got this pic of the guys to our left, any of you guys? there were so many rods they would've snagged anything swimming by. tight lines all M and son
