Wetsuits are great. I do triathlons so it started there, i am to wimpy for waders (being 5'5" doesnt help) my tall friends seem to get out further. The thought of being trapped in flooded waders wigs me out. The wetsuit must fit tight out of the water, once in- they loosen up and fit like skin so be careful when purchasing.. go to ebay and get an older one. There is no fear on the flats when the tide rolls in, just a semi swim back if you are late. They seem to stay warm as long as you stay wet in the water. another great thing you can wiz in them and never have to go to shore to drop your waders to take a leak. (when the fish are on there are priorities). upon leaving the water you take them off by turning them inside out, like peeling a bannana, then rinse them off with fresh water and hang them to dry in the shade. As far as minor holes and punctures, just super glue them shut. great piece of equipment, you can actually float on your back if you get into trouble. be warned ....you can apper to look like a seal, you know what that can lead to..................
