      Surfcaster's 2016 Reboot!   09/21/2016

Howdy, folks. I know this is way overdue, and the damage is probably already done, but after weeks of working with the database I've finally wiped out all of the spam posts and topics. This was no easy task, considering there were three-quarters of a million bogus posts and nearly three hundred thousand bogus topics. Once a hacker/spammer network finds a vulnerability, they send out automated programs that basically destroy a database like this. Over the past couple weeks I've migrated all of the good data into a more current, secure platform with the hopes that we can somehow rebuild. New member registration is tightened way up, and a third-party spam monitoring service is in place. I've also invested in an awesome new gallery extension,  allowing members to create, manage, and share image galleries. Please give it a try, and let me know if there are any issues. I'm still testing and working out the bugs. Surfcaster's forums were once an amazing resource for everyone to enjoy, and we're hoping it can once again build back up. The main site (non-forums) is pretty banged up, but once the forums are complete my next task is to re-invent that as well. Spread the word. Hope to see a lot of you back! Cheers, Andrew

good job nice to see the site fixed.

  2. been a long time sense I have seen any life on this site, not sure if any one is running this web site or is it just a ship at sea with no compass  lol. maybe if a few join in here we could get it up and running with some reports this spring. first reports of fish could be delayed the way old man winter is dragging his ###### to get out out of here,COME ON SPRING!!! :beerchug:
  3. Any one on this site any more? there's light at the end of the tunnel with less than a month till the migration starts on the north shore, anyone have and predictions of 2013?
  4. there places on the cape also, not sure where or there rules and regulations.
  5. cool, thanks for staying on top of the site, :hbang2:
  6. Not sure what parts are open but I think the beach is closed to all 4x4 till the fall because of those protected birds..
  7. ya seems like every time I check in there's not a sole to be found , come spring maybe things will pick up.
  8. this is one hell of a face lift,so much nicer to use, Keep up the great work :beerchug:
  9. welcome back man, good see this happen, I guess you could say it's like the rising of the titanic  one thought I have is maybe some how attach a live web site to this website, I sometimes check out a webcam before I head out on a trip to see if there's fog banks or a lot of chop in the water, there is a cam for newburyport and sailsbury.
  10. nothing wrong with questions or remarks as well as reports.
  11. those fish may be small but man there tasty, I'll take little native trout over stock any day, nice job
  12. was out saterday also , only seen a few fish spook away from the boat, as for your transducer zippy make sure the face of it is clean of any grime build up or dirt, I was told once that could make the unit act funny.
  13. I was there yesterday afternoon and put in at the old ramp , not a problem but for larger boats it would be a bit more of a task , as for a fish report, my buddy and I did all right for the first time out for the season , 18 fish 2 keeper size all released in the river
  14. o.k just found out no docks till Monday the 24th
  15. nice job surf rat  , you just need to be more careful of spot burning  , I'm thinking of giving joppa a shot Thur I'll post my results...............
