      Surfcaster's 2016 Reboot!   09/21/2016

Howdy, folks. I know this is way overdue, and the damage is probably already done, but after weeks of working with the database I've finally wiped out all of the spam posts and topics. This was no easy task, considering there were three-quarters of a million bogus posts and nearly three hundred thousand bogus topics. Once a hacker/spammer network finds a vulnerability, they send out automated programs that basically destroy a database like this. Over the past couple weeks I've migrated all of the good data into a more current, secure platform with the hopes that we can somehow rebuild. New member registration is tightened way up, and a third-party spam monitoring service is in place. I've also invested in an awesome new gallery extension,  allowing members to create, manage, and share image galleries. Please give it a try, and let me know if there are any issues. I'm still testing and working out the bugs. Surfcaster's forums were once an amazing resource for everyone to enjoy, and we're hoping it can once again build back up. The main site (non-forums) is pretty banged up, but once the forums are complete my next task is to re-invent that as well. Spread the word. Hope to see a lot of you back! Cheers, Andrew

  1. Ended up at the scusset side of the canal. Went out a little ways on the Jetty and worked towards the mouth of the canal. Caught a few fish, lost a couple and had quite a few hits. 2 in the 20-21 inch range. It was the most productive outing I've had all summer. The hard part was getting the fish up the rocks. Used clams and number 2 hook. Had a lot of fun.
  2. Anyone had any luck in past couple of weeks. Wondering if there is anything happening around the canal or New Bedford areas.
  3. Thank you so much for all the information, I really appreciate it. It's nice to be part of a forum that is so willing to share information. Thanks
  4. I was out on plum island Saturday and something took my hook hard. Bent my pole and was the biggest hit I've had so far. This is my first season. Anyway.. My leader snapped and whatever it was got away. The leader was for 20lbs. The first thing I have to learn is using drag, which may or may not have helped. But, what to do people use for leaders. If I use steel, do I put the hook right on the leader? Do people make their own and what kind of pound leader do you use, what kind of wire or line? Any help would be great. Including use of drag. Thanks
  5. There are a couple of beaches north of Hampton beach, North Hampton and I can't remember the other. I was wondering how the fishing is around those 2.
  6. Thanks, Appreciate the info.
  7. Thanks for the info. Any shops further up 24 or 195? I'll be coming from the north
  8. Any body fished at Horseneck beach in Westport? It's my first season fishing, mostly in Hampton Inlet area in NH. Been having luck with smaller fish Will be returning to Mass on the weekends in September and looking for places in that area. Any good bait shops in the area that are open earlier in the morning?
