      Surfcaster's 2016 Reboot!   09/21/2016

Howdy, folks. I know this is way overdue, and the damage is probably already done, but after weeks of working with the database I've finally wiped out all of the spam posts and topics. This was no easy task, considering there were three-quarters of a million bogus posts and nearly three hundred thousand bogus topics. Once a hacker/spammer network finds a vulnerability, they send out automated programs that basically destroy a database like this. Over the past couple weeks I've migrated all of the good data into a more current, secure platform with the hopes that we can somehow rebuild. New member registration is tightened way up, and a third-party spam monitoring service is in place. I've also invested in an awesome new gallery extension,  allowing members to create, manage, and share image galleries. Please give it a try, and let me know if there are any issues. I'm still testing and working out the bugs. Surfcaster's forums were once an amazing resource for everyone to enjoy, and we're hoping it can once again build back up. The main site (non-forums) is pretty banged up, but once the forums are complete my next task is to re-invent that as well. Spread the word. Hope to see a lot of you back! Cheers, Andrew

  1. Fished parking lot 1 yesterday, my dad reeled in a nice 32" 10 1/2 lb fish. He was very happy. Good to get him out there. Other than that one keepah a few shorties and a couple real small ones. Oh yeah EKelly was yelling at me when the pole was bending over and I kept looking the wrong way. what goes around comes around.
  2. Congrats John, nice fish. I helped EKelly bring home his dinner last Sunday. I was pointing at his fishpole bending and he kept waving at me.
  3. Sculpin Puke, now that's there' s funny I don't care who you are.....B) Keep your head up BF.
  4. I'd like to go..first I need to check the house schedule. I'll let you know.
  5. Sunday was bit breezy...like 40 mph winds all day with no let up, sandblasting the ankles. B) Rumor has it EKelly and co. are using plover for bait. :beerchug:
  6. Congrats that's a nice fish. B) My ten year old caught his first Keepah Monday. 29" lot 1
  7. EKelly can tell a tall tale. B) Wait a minute I did see some proof.
  8. Nice Job guys, congrats on the fish. Hope to get out soon.
  9. Welcome aboard ekelly.
  10. I took home a flounder a couple weeks back from Lot1 at PI 16" winter flounder. Tasty. I have friends renting a place up at Old Orchard. I'll go for the weekend of the 26th and try my luck there.
  11. Good stories, don't give up. I don't think the pond is fished out yet. :D The fish Gods will smile on you for releasing those macs. Good luck next trip. I'm leaving it up to you guys, this weekend is a wedding party and cutting firewood for me.
  12. It was a great week. The 40" variety is preferred, but the slot will cook up just fine.
  13. Spent the week at Salisbury camping. Dropped son off at Boat Camp in Newburyport. Started fishing Monday at parking lot 1 on PI got skunked from 8am till 1pm. Tried fishing on the river from the campground near badgers rock, had a couple nibbles but nothing to show. Fished outgoing most fo the time on river without much luck. Caught first Striper Thursday outgoing near jetty where they are building temp docks for tall ships. About 22 inches and healthy. Moved to ocean side at Salisbury on the rocks and had one great hit, had pole sitting in rocks, watched it bend right over before I could grab it and it was gone. A cute little life guard told me, no fishing on the beach side so I moved back over to the riverside and lost two set ups in the rocks before giving up for the day. Had fun with wife and kids as it was my youngests birthday. go karts, water slide, laser tag, arcades etc etc etc. To tired to fish that night. Back to fishing again. Fished outgoing at badgers and pulled in three schoolies bigest @ 25". Tried night fishing there caught a couple more nothing big. Had a couple others fishing with eels next to me and only saw one caught in about two hours. Checked out of camground Sat. morn and headed to parking lot 7? I think. I could see Cranes beach from there. First cast near rocks on left pulled in a 22incher. and that was it for the next 3 hours. Lot's of bites, do Greenheads count? They were out and hungry. Oldest son had lots of fun with Capt. Bob at boat camp, They fished about every day, caught mackerel, cod, haddock, and lots of other stuff. He lost one he said bent the pole right around in a circle before snapping the line. Maybe I'll sign myself up for Boat Camp next year. :D Weather was beautiful and fishing for a week was a blast. I'll be trying my luck in Maine in a couple weeks. Tight lines to all.
  14. I will be vacationing at Salisbury next week. I will be fishing the river, the jetties, the ocean, daytime and night. If I don't come up with some good fishing reports I will change my hobby. :D Looking forward to some fun with the family and fishes.
