      Surfcaster's 2016 Reboot!   09/21/2016

Howdy, folks. I know this is way overdue, and the damage is probably already done, but after weeks of working with the database I've finally wiped out all of the spam posts and topics. This was no easy task, considering there were three-quarters of a million bogus posts and nearly three hundred thousand bogus topics. Once a hacker/spammer network finds a vulnerability, they send out automated programs that basically destroy a database like this. Over the past couple weeks I've migrated all of the good data into a more current, secure platform with the hopes that we can somehow rebuild. New member registration is tightened way up, and a third-party spam monitoring service is in place. I've also invested in an awesome new gallery extension,  allowing members to create, manage, and share image galleries. Please give it a try, and let me know if there are any issues. I'm still testing and working out the bugs. Surfcaster's forums were once an amazing resource for everyone to enjoy, and we're hoping it can once again build back up. The main site (non-forums) is pretty banged up, but once the forums are complete my next task is to re-invent that as well. Spread the word. Hope to see a lot of you back! Cheers, Andrew

HOWS THE ICE FISHING?

8 posts in this topic

Sunday 2/6/05,

Nice sunny day, my friend Jimmy was late about an hour and a half. We finally got there a 10 am. We stopped at the first angler hearing stories of you should have been here yesterday, with tackle breaking salmon being caught. we walk away and I said "ya ok should have been here yesterday I heard that before" we picked a spot that didn't produce for about an 1 1/2 hrs. so we moved closer to shore and started getting flags well 3 flags we got one 16 inch Brown Trout. then dead for the rest of the afternoon. cleaned up and headed out at 3 pm

2/7/05 Monday,

I had some minnows left and the day off so I went to Long Sot For Pond to fish for some Rainbow Trout. After washing my truck I got there about noon and before I could get the 2nd trap set I had a flag I used all 20 minnows and caught 2 Large Mouth Bass one 2 pounder, 2 perch and 10 pickerel. I cleaned up at 3 pm and headed home

I went last sunday and fished with my exemployer and his dad, caught 10 fish each and it was a great day.

went out on winnisquam last saturday. only went out for a couple hours, from 12:30 until about 4:00. not one flag. on the advice from the guy at the winnisquam market we stayed in close to shore, 2' to 10' of water. smelts and emeralds. nothing. i did have a visit from a NH fish&game warden...got my license the day before! no fish, but it was a nice afternoon.

Do any of you use circle hooks with the shiners when planning on catch and release?

Grandmother always said that no sane person would walk on ice.

Don't get me wrong, I like ice..............

I wouldn't use anything else in my Tanguarey and Tonic or to chill my wine.
