Thought we might have some fun with a new posting - so, reply to this post when you catch your first striper of the season. Please share when, where you were (be as specific or vague as you like), and what you caught the fish on. Length and Weight would be great, and a picture would be the best.

Have a Great Season...

I had planned on putting the boat in on Friday, but the usual suspects all had to work. Thought about fishing from shore, did yard work instead

Going Sunday for Cod and Haddock, we 'll hit the mouth for a while on our way in.

GOOD TO HEAR THEY ARE IN - GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Nice to meet you Kytara7 and it's always good to see Surf Rat. After I left you two I made my way down to the new and improved sandbar (changes every year) and proceeded to get skunked. However, I did see a couple of keepers pulled out - 30" and a 37", the first on a jig head slugo and the big one on a white jig w/slugo. Very few other fish caught - mostly in the 20" range - need to get down there when there are no boats or crowds around - mid week would be good time.

I got my first for the year in the Haverhill section of the river a nice shiny 30 inch fish. I saw a school of 15 or so heading upriver none were interested in the sluggo I was tossing them.

Went last Sunday, not for stripers, but Cod and Haddock at Tillies.

4 of us boated 18 Haddock, 2 keeper Cod, and one Wolf fish. When we got back in, the shores of

the mouth were lined with people fishing, noticed several hook ups as we motored back in.

Couldn't convince Capt Harv to stop and striper fish for an hour or so.

Plan to put my 18' in sometime in the next week. Son's college graduation, so obviously

that's a priority, although I think he would prefer to be on the boat fishing rather than

standing in line in his cap and gown!

Went out yesterday afternoon for the first time. Caught 6 fish on the out going tide all on herring chunks (1 for me 5 for the wife, she always out-fishes me).
My first and only fish was 34.5 inches across the river from Boat Works.
My wife took her 5 just off the flats near the no-wake marker. All were between 20 & 24.
She also caught 2 cats across from Boat Works but we don't count those.

Finally got my first striper of the season, with 4 more including 2 keepers. Dodged the rain, and got back in before any thunder.

Chunk mack's were the best bait, although clams were getting hit too.

Quite a few boats out for the early outgoing tide - Cashmen's lot was about 1/2 full at 6:15AM

Oh yeah EKelly was yelling at me when the pole was bending over and I kept looking the wrong way. what goes around comes around.

First 40" of the season - weighed about 27lbs. Inhaled a pretty good size mackeral that we were trolling between the MR buoy and the the mouth. Water temp was mid 60's, air temp was about 100. Boat speed was about 1.5 knots - barely in gear...
